Compact Motor Lifter
Mini Lifter Saves The Day!
We were recently asked by a major pharmaceutical manufacturer to design a lifter to remove and replace a 70kg motor. Simple enough, you might think. However, the motor was surrounded by pipework and the area for operators to work in was an 800mm high crawlspace under a walkway!
Previously, it took two or three maintenance staff, on their hands and knees, to manhandle the motor out from the labyrinth of pipes and was clearly a considerable risk to health and safety. A solution was needed urgently.
Mechandling set to work and designed the lifter you see here – despite it being the ‘baby’ of the Mechandling range, the lifter is incredibly manoeuvrable and has the strength of larger machines – easily capable of lifting and supporting the 70kg motor as it is transported in and out of the crawlspace.
The lifter’s head swivels fully in both directions to help guide the motor past the pipework and other obstructions as it is removed. Now this job has been transformed into a straight-forward and safe, one-man operation. Simply attach the hooks to the lifting eyes of the motor, raise the motor from its base, withdraw it from the area avoiding obstructions and transfer it onto a trolley just outside the crawlspace. Job done!

Powered Bottle Lifter
Mechandling remove heavy lifting injury risk completely!

A chemical manufacturer recently enquired about a lifter to remove bottles of product from a chest freezer. The bottles were traditionally removed by hand, posing an unacceptable risk to staff, as they struggled to reach over into the freezer to lift bottles of up to 40kg. This is our solution.
The arm of the lifter fits neatly into the freezer and the self-tightening clamp mechanism means that bottles can be attached and released from the lifter in seconds (see video). The clamp head spins 360 degrees and the arm of the lifter has built-in adjustment to make positioning and attaching the clamp as simple as possible.
Push-button controls make this lifter easy to operate, and the stainless-steel finish keeps the lifter smart and simple to clean.

Self-Propelled Bin Tipper
400kg Tablet Tipping Made Easy!
A pharmaceutical manufacturer recently enquired about a bin tipper which could raise and rotate to empty 400kg of tablets into a hopper. This is our solution.
The bin had to be made to very specific dimensions to fit into the production area, but, as with all our lifters, bespoke design ensures that all of our customers’ requirements are catered for. The bin also needed to be detachable. So, we used a locking pin and proximity sensor, which allows tipping only when the bin is locked securely in position.
Push-button controls make this lifter simple and effortless to manoeuvre and control, and stainless-steel cladding keeps the lifter smart and easy to clean.

Bespoke Cutting Table Lifter
We were recently asked to design a manual lifter for a major chemical manufacturer. It needed to raise and remove a cutting table, weighing 180kg, from the production line. Unsurprisingly, nothing was available from the standard catalogue suppliers. So, once again, Mechandling came to the rescue!
The easy-action pump lever raises the head of the lifter with minimal effort and when set to ‘Lower’, the head descends gently under gravity. The customer asked us to fit a mechanical stop on the mast as an extra security feature and we were happy to oblige.
This model was in highly visible bright yellow, but as with all our lifters, it could have been powder coated in any RAL colour, or made from fully GMP stainless steel.
A previously dangerous manual handling process, involving several members of staff, has now transformed into a safe one-man operation. Glad we could help!

Steel Rod Manipulator
At Mechandling, we pride ourselves on being versatile and helping customers with whatever they ask for. Making bespoke, hand-built lifting equipment is what we care about!
We were recently asked to design a lifter that would grip and raise heavy steel rods of various thicknesses to eliminate a potentially dangerous material handling operation. Not long after delivery, we received great feedback. The operator, who uses it daily, says –
“The lifter has vastly changed the process and effort needed to handle this heavy bar. It makes lifting and moving the bar from the floor to the chamfer machine and then on to the bar magazine a much less strenuous exercise, which in turn, removes the concerns of multiple injury risks I had using our old lifting and handling methods. It’s well built and a very sturdy unit which gives you confidence when using the lifter. It is also surprisingly easy to manoeuvre, even loaded with a heavy bar. I am also impressed how fast the battery charges. Overall I am very happy with our lifter, it has made a massive difference for me at work. I no longer dread the thought of having to haul those heavy bars onto the machine magazine. Many thanks to you and the team.”

Static Twin-Column IBC Lifter
At Mechandling, we love what we do. Designing bespoke lifters for our customers’ specific needs is what we specialise in. This recent project was no different. Our client needed a static lifter to raise and lower IBCs in a pharmaceutical production environment.
We designed this Twin Column Static Lifter in 304 Stainless Steel. Bolted to the floor for stability, both columns work in unison to lift up to 1000kg. Our sleek yet sturdy design is highly effective and simple to operate. A wired remote allows operators to control the lifter from an appropriate distance and for extra safety, a sounder mounted on one column alerts those nearby that the lifter is in use.
Manufactured to fully GMP standards, suitable for pharmaceutical applications, all welds are fully blended and hollow sections are capped. The masts are fully enclosed, with a vertical frame housing twin strips of PVC plastic to cover the lifting slots.
